Liz Cohen

MSc. BSc. (Hons.) PGCert MCSP FHEA

I graduated from Brunel University with a BSc. (Hons) Physiotherapy in 1995 and gained a MSc. Specialist Neurological Rehabilitation from The University of Birmingham in 2009. I worked for the NHS for 9 years developing an interest in Neurology before spending a further 9 years teaching Neurology and supporting placements on the BSc. and MSc. Physiotherapy programmes at The University of Birmingham.

In 2013 I took the opportunity to return to a clinical career and in 2016 completed the APPI matwork Pilates training. I have since taken the Pilates for Neurology, Runners and Standing 3D modules which have directly fed into my classes and Physiotherapy treatments. I have also completed numerous Myofascial Release modules feeding into my hands on approach to treatment. I am also Bobath trained and trained in the use of Functional Electrical Stimulation.

Since working for the Cloisters I have expanded the domiciliary service to support our established Neurology service (Liz Norton) and take on more elderly care clients in their own homes and nursing/residential homes. I have also developed a seated Pilates class for those who cannot get to the floor. This includes balance and strengthening to help in falls prevention. The 2020 Coronavirus pandemic has seen the Pilates classes move to virtual teaching which has added vital IT skills to the mix.
