At The Cloisters we only practise Western Medical Acupuncture, exclusively for the relief of pain.

Acupuncture, Leamington Spa

It is usually provided as part of a tailored pain management programme, working alongside other treatments such as exercise, postural advice, joint mobilisation and soft tissue massage.

Acupuncture works by stimulating the release of certain natural chemicals within the body, reducing inflammation and promoting healing. It is very effective at treating soft tissue injuries and can also be used as an adjunct to the treatment of sports injuries. Another useful benefit from its pain relief can be a reduction in the need for pain killing drugs.

All the therapists using acupuncture at the clinic are members of the Acupuncture Association for Chartered Physiotherapists. They use extremely fine disposable needles taken from sealed packages, and each needle is only used once before being safely disposed of.

Before starting acupuncture, you will always be assessed carefully to ensure that the treatment is advisable. The procedure will also be carefully explained to you. We always require your consent before proceeding – and nobody is ever forced to have treatment!
